Weekly Announcements for September 23rd through 27th. Monday, September 23rd is a workday for staff and a non-school day for scholars. There is no school for scholars on Monday. Tuesday, September 24th is our first Family Global Night! Please join us at 5:30 in the gym. We will gather for a few exciting announcements and performances by our Kindergarten scholars. Then, you will have time to visit your child's classroom and speak with their teacher. Progress Reports will be shared at Family Global Night. We hope you plan to join us! We will see in the gym at 5:30 on Tuesday. Mark your calendars, October 10th is our Fall Picture Day. In athletics this week. Soccer and Volleyball is away on Wednesday at Springfield Middle in Wilson. Football is home on Thursday. All middle school athletic games cost $5 to enter. Thank you!

Good afternoon: I want to inform you of a situation that occurred today at our school. Out of an abundance of caution, we temporarily kept all students inside the building while local law enforcement investigated a potential incident in the surrounding area. After an investigation, the Edgecombe County Sheriff's Office has cleared us to return to normal operations. The safety and well-being of our students and staff are always our top priority. We appreciate your understanding and support as we work to maintain a secure learning environment. If you have any questions or concerns, please don't hesitate to reach out. Thank you for your cooperation and trust in our safety procedures.

Friendly Reminder: Candy Man Orders and Monies are due tomorrow, Friday, September 20th. Be sure to secure your last few orders and turn in all order forms tomorrow. We'd love to see every scholar eligible to attend the Main Event Gaming Truck! Don't forget there are additional prizes for our Top Sellers! Who will it be?! Weekly Announcements 09.16 - 09.20 This is our last week of the Fall Candy Man Fundraiser. We hope everyone will consider participating. We appreciate your support. Mark your calendars for our first Family Global Night on Tuesday, September 24th starting at 5:30 PM in the Gym. We have some exciting announcements and will enjoy a musical presentation by our Kindergarten scholars. Progress Reports will also be shared that night. Please be sure to review all our handbook policy posts. Be sure you know our procedures for check-out, carpool line, and our electronics policy. Thank you. In athletics this week we have all home games. Soccer is home on Tuesday and Wednesday. All soccer games are played at the Indian Lake sports complex. Volleyball is also home on Tuesday and Wednesday. All volleyball games are played in the MMA gym. And football is at home on Thursday. Home football games are played at Tarboro High School. We are looking forward to another great week at MMA. And remember, where there is no road, we will make one!

We hope that every family will consider participating. If you see any family, friends, or neighbors this weekend, be sure to ask them if they would like to support the Candy Many Fundraiser. A friendly reminder that tomorrow Friday, September 13th we are celebrating International Dot Day and making a commitment to all the way we will make a mark on our world this school year. Many scholars decorated a t-shirt or socks to wear tomorrow. Please help your scholar remember to wear their dot day item and be sure to ask your scholar how they plan to make their mark this year!

Good Morning, Bus 388 will be a double route again this morning so will be later than expected as it has been the past few days. Bus 317/552 is running the high school route then the MMA route with a new driver. All bus routes will run. We appreciate your continued patience during this time!

Attention Bus 388 WILL be running this afternoon, Wednesday, September 11th. We DO have a substitute driver this afternoon! Thank you!

Attention Bus 388 is canceled this afternoon Tuesday, September 10th. No substitutes were available to drive. We apologize for the inconvenience, but Bus 388 is canceled. We will run a late double route tomorrow morning and at this time the PM route on Wednesday in canceled as well. Again Bus 388 will not run today.

Attention Families of Bus 388. We have been made aware the driver is unable to drive Tuesday, September 10th or Wednesday, September 11th. We are currently working on coverage options but wanted to share in advance. Tomorrow morning at the very least we will run a double route and a bus will come late to pick up the morning route. There may be a possibility that we will not have a sub driver in the afternoon. We will notify you through this APP by 1PM the status of the afternoon route. The same will be true for Wednesday as well. We apologize for the inconvenience. If you or anyone you know is interested in becoming a bus driver or sub bus driver, please contact the school so that we can connect you with transportation to get signed up.

Candy Man is Back! MMA has officially kicked off our Fall Candy Man Fundraiser! The Fall Fundraiser is open now Monday, September 9th through Friday, September 20th. Scholars should have brought home fundraiser information today. We encourage all families to consider supporting the Fall Fundraiser. School fundraisers help us supplement all that is needed to make teaching and learning engaging, rigorous, and fun! There are incentives for our top sellers, but whether you support a small amount or a large amount, every little bit helps. Thank you in advance for supporting the Fall Candy Man Fundraiser.

MMA Families, Thank you for your patience as we transition to our new communication application. You do need the ECPS App downloaded on your phone or tablet. By downloading the App and selecting MMA as your school, you will get school-wide updates like this one. Your child's teacher will also have a "Room" in which you can communicate directly with the teacher (similar to Dojo). You do need a "Magic Number" to gain full access to the teacher "Rooms". Some teachers were able to get their Magic Number letters sent home this week. All teachers should have sent home the Magic Number letter by Monday, September 9th. If you have not received a Magic Number letter by Monday, please email your child's teacher. Once you've downloaded the APP and used your Magic Number to connect to the communication "Rooms" you should be able to access all our school-wide announcements and teacher communication. *Please note your phone number has to be correct in our student information system to stay linked. If you change your number, please be sure to update that number with our data manager so that you can continue to stay connected to the ECPS communication application. Thank you for working with us and getting connected.

Handbook Highlight: Personal Technology including Cell Phones, HEADPHONES, and earbuds. Please see the flyer concerning personal technology. All cell phones, headphones, and earbuds should be out of sight from "door to door" (from leaving the door of your home to returning back home to that door). Once scholars enter an ECPS space (including the bus), cell phones, headphones and earbuds should be powered off and secured in a bookbag or purse. All scholars in grades 3rd - 8th will also be issued a locker and lock and will have a safe place to store their devices. Scholars bring those devices and cell phones, headphones and earbuds at their own risk. MMA is not responsible for and will not investigate lost, stolen, or damaged cell phones, headphones, earbuds and other personal devices. Thank you for your support and help in advance. We want to set scholars up for success and ensure they have a distraction-free environment to learn and grow!

This afternoon, we were honored by a special visit from Mr. Eddie Pettaway, who brought his annual delivery of beautiful mums to brighten our central office and schools. Mr. Pettaway, a cherished former custodian who dedicated many years to serving our schools, continues to show his love and commitment to our community through this thoughtful gesture. His ongoing kindness not only enhances our work environment but also serves as a powerful reminder of the positive impact one person can make. We are deeply grateful for Mr. Pettaway's enduring dedication and the inspiration he brings to us all. Thank you, Mr. Pettaway, for your unwavering support and for always lifting our spirits!

Handbook Highlight: Arrival & Dismissal Today we're highlighting our arrival and dismissal expectations. Please be sure to review the expectations thoroughly. Some points about arrival we'd like to highlight are the following: - 7:40 is the earliest scholars can be dropped off; please do not drop off scholars to wait unattended anywhere on campus before 7:40 AM. - Scholars can only be dropped off in the carline; do not park elsewhere and let your scholar walk unattended to campus. - If you're walking a scholar to class, please do not park on Johnston Street. This area is strictly used for buses in the mornings. - After 8:05 AM, scholars will be tardy and must check in at the front office Some points about dismissal we'd like to share: - Your ID will always be required to check out a scholar; even if we've known you for years, everyone is required to have an ID for checkout. Safety first! - The last checkout for the day is at 2:50 PM. After 2:50, you'll be asked to join the carline or wait in the office until the carline is complete. - Please use the carline as it is designed and join the line somewhere along Walnut Street (depending on the time you join the line). Do not attempt to skip the line at any point. - When you're waved on, please pull all the way forward. We will utilize the entire length of the sidewalk to safely load as many scholars and cars as possible. - If you are a designated walker (must live within 1 mile of the school and be on the approved walker list), we know that sometimes due to extreme weather, you may use a car as opposed to walking; you must park further down a side street and exit in a direction that does not include turn onto or driving on E. Johnston Street.
